Your Proper Place (ashcan)

You didn't fit in where you grew up, where you came from, so you left. But society has all these rules, rules that chafe, rules that don't leave space for you. You can't escape that by leaving your family or town. And with nowhere else to go, you've ended up with other misfits at some manner of school. The teachers there are invested in the same social structures you're at odds with. But maybe with the help of the other misfits, you can get through to them and find a way to become something better, to prove that you're more than foolish and misguided castoffs.

Your Proper Place is a game about coming into your own and overcoming problematic societal rules, inspired by YA fantasy fiction by authors such as Tamora Pierce and cartoons like The Owl House. Each player plays both a Misfit and a Teacher, except for the Guide who plays a Teacher and the world generally. It's a Powered by the Apocalpyse game inspired particularly by Girl Underground by McManamon & Ross.

This is an incomplete ashcan produced for the Femininomenon Jam. It's missing a bunch of playbooks, scene descriptions, and explanations, and would take some extra work and improvisation to bring to the table. But feel free to ask questions in the comments, and if you take a look or try it out I'd love to hear what you think! A fuller treatment will come… eventually. ^_^
